Penny loves London Town. She's ready for her close up. Faces all around, they're putting on her make up. Her dress it sweeps the ground, safe now from the static. Just a line to say "I made it here and here I shall remain". She sits all alone as the crowds are passing by. All living such a lie and never take the time. As she's laid down in retreat from herself. Melts into her bath, clinging to the path that lead her here. Penny loves London Town. There's till time to make her, a star in her own eyes, all it does is breaks her. Another hit today to while away the hours. Another hit today to say, you left me here and here I shall remain. She won't believe that they wont see her, such a sweet rejection of her world. She's just in time to be evicted from a life, that dared show her what could be. Penny loves London Town, doomed to walk the streets here, both dead and alive but not able to strike fear. Penny loves London Town.

She said that we'd meet at the house with no name. Just past the bakers in Crimson Tie Lane. She said she'd be late after she had arrived. I lit my pipe and we started to fly. We walked through the rough grass as Summer began. To dig the scent on her favourite kaftan. With the echo of bells ringing out evensong. Just a smile and a whisper and I now belong. All alone and at one with the sky. Floating so heavy through the needles eye. Cinnamon pastures wherever we go. Now we don't care for what we'll never know. Drifting so slowly on the Serpentine. Marmalade rivers that mellows the mind. The sun shines intensely inside an old spoon. There is no reason for leaving here soon. We did sleep for a year and a day. Rustic bucolics asleep in the hay. Horses ate only the clouds in the sky. 'Neath the merry go, merry go, merry go round. That they longed to ride. Once there were fields and crinoline tides. replaced with brocade running mile after mile. At least we were happy to us we were true. Another scene beckoned we jumped as you drew. Raindrops will wash your dreams all away. Save them all up for a sunnier day. Over the rooftops we see the crows fly. As down on the streets the light starts to die. And we come alive.
3.
To save their souls from the two stroke ghouls By night they'll fly, petrol-sniffing highs Suits pressed hard against a-line skirts Tonight they'll ride and run into a kill Rushing through the streets waiting till the speed takes them high. Pushing twenty three the A303 trundles by See through their skin, time to begin From the darkest side shines the brightest lights They are blinded, learning to fly kids On that road littered with bones like an opened grave. So they ride into the night Vibrations rise impure delight They're on a course to meet their gods To be taken by a soul they'd lost If you listen on the wind the voices of the moped kinds Will draw you in without your lid, they'll draw you in without your lid There's freedom there and who will care If they crash and burn they'll still survive In memories on the roads they leave They can't be lost if you believe They can't be lost if you believe
4.
The sun up above. A deity. God. The one that brought life from the sea. Made the river god cry with such delight. That created the rain for the seed. Below the ground can you hear the sound. The mandrakes rehearsing their screams. But harvest they must before comes the dusk. As silver dissolves into dreams. There shall be no rest throughout the night. As the demons howl for the wolves to bite. There'll be no peace in torments eye. Till you take a leap and you will find. And you will find. You will find it's all built on lies. Cast the seed down into the sod. Say them a prayer for the coming year. All is prepared for the gifts that we leave. The hunger burns don't be deceived. Inside you bound can you hear the sound. Of the Miller's wheel as it grinds you down. But grind it we must before come the dust. As the fever dissolves into dreams. So here you are lost in time. You try to run nowhere to hide. You can't hear the words they say. About what's in store on your final day. On your final day.
5.
Walking up the path of no return. Strange how low the streetlights seem to burn. Visions of that gilded lace, fear gets etched onto my face. Visions of that gilded lace, beckons me into this place. In the house that bore his name. The shouts but no one came. No one's left to blame the fifteenth Mrs Prenderghast. Mrs Prenderghast, Mrs Prenderghast. A bitter chill for the nary open door. To look inside and then to explore. The perfume seeps of the walls led you here to meet your call. The perfume seeps of the walls, so to obey the siren calls. She'll see you in hell. She knows damn well that a man around town, the fool wears his crown. Bring him down to his knees, worship at the feet of the fifteenth Mrs Prenderghast. Mrs Prenderghast, Mrs Prenderghast.

I speak from the heart but you won't believe me. Witches are real and they never leave me alone. They never leave me, they never leave me. They never leave me alone. Their prying eyes boiling over with madness. Exciting the lust but always with sadness in mind. Always with sadness, always with sadness Always with sadness in mind. Dance round the stones on a Midsummer midnight. The coven's all here they're gonna show me the light. They're gonna show me, they're gonna show me. They're gonna show me the light. They turned me into a hare. They turned me into a frog. They turned me on to the stones. They turfed me out on my own. They chased down like a dog. They chased me into the bog. They raised me up with the crows. The magicked me with their prose.
8.
If gods command you to obey, there's nothing very much to say. Let's grow old and sink beneath the waves. And what would be the point of change if nothing's learned along the way. I just thought it had to mean something. They get to wander, while we're beneath the rye and barley. To catch their heels and drag them under. Death will leave them broken like the morn. We hear that silver dagger song and I'm not sure if it belongs. In that place we've always longed to be. I'm older than I've ever been, so why then can't I make them see. The Silence is the simplest one to sing. Now they'll sell and take our ears but we wont let them see us bleed. Set aside the wasting of the seed. Subject to their monstrous gods, they'll soon be buried 'neath the sod. The Silence is the only song they'll hear.
9.
Painter paint that witch in hell. Too long she's had me in her spell. I'm tied upon this crooked chair. I know she longs to eat my hair. I think you know the way the story is traveling. Though souls be lost it wont prevent a gathering. My lifeblood left to whither on the vine. My essence must depart from these times. Bake a loaf and bake it well. The witch she sleeps but she can tell. The herbs that are arranged here. With words that slither in my ears. Through the mist a forest listens in delight. A mirror hidden neath the leaves is out of sight. Another one could steal my heart and beneath the worms. Just one more dance and you'll see me fall.
10.
You laid me down on the pebblebeds. You made a fool of me and crept inside my head. And like the fool I am I followed you. To where white horses ran and where you hatched your plan. Oh how you hatched your plan. And there growing beside the pebblebeds. Every herb and (wild) flower that could be fed. Into the spells and recipes that you knew. Within the horses fleet revenge would taste so sweet. Revenge would taste so sweet. As the questions came I answered them. From a script that bore your name. That I learned by heart no questions asked. Just a promise to return when the stones had formed. Into an eagle's flight. Then I could take you home. There's one drink for them and then one for you. You made a noose for them, because they were cruel to you. Like gin trapped hares you wont let go. Never to go home where the darkness hides. A full stop to their lies. When the dust died down the bird had flown. Righted all their wrongs could we settle down. Like the fool again I followed you. To another place that your scenes foretold. Oh how they came to be.

Legends tell what comes to pass on Midsummer's Day. The beast shall not be named but must appear. To claim a prying soul misled and beneath the tree he is bled. Fragments of a wicked truth against the grain. Someday you will a way. To keep the demons from your door. Birds fly chase the closing of the day. The golden hours fade so far away. For all that revel in the absence of sin. And appear so welcoming so research can begin. The quaint country ways, carved deities proudly displayed. But bare their teeth when you are turned away. The pages that you wrote into the air they float. A man of letters has to find his place. Laid down the fool that chose his crown. The old, old story becomes clear now all is here.
13.
As I rest myself against this tree. My body willed to fall asleep. My head gets pointed to the sun. I feel that I am not alone. The branches wrap around my arms. Its bark as soft as silken yarn. And calling in an earthly form. The woodwitch holds me in her arms. A new breath she steps into the light. Eyes so calm and burning bright. My life from now has come and gone. Enchantment floods my marrow bone. A kiss she plants as my skin fades. Bark covering, increasing haste. Splinters barrow into my veins. Feet rooted as if by chains. The woodwitch danced toward the moon. Promises of returning soon. But I would wait a hundred years. Before I saw her returning here. She rests herself against my feet. Her body willed to fall asleep. Our heads are pointed to the sun. And feel that we are not alone.
